Landscaping & External Works

The external environment around the building — hard and soft landscaping, surfacing, boundaries and finishes that make a completed building look finished. Delivered alongside the trades inside, so handover is the whole site, not just the shell.

What we deliver

The full external scope,
self-delivered.

Hard landscaping

  • Paving, paths & patios
  • Block, flag & resin surfaces
  • Steps, ramps & retaining
  • Decking & terraces

Soft landscaping

  • Planting, beds & turfing
  • Topsoil & ground prep
  • Trees, hedging & screening
  • Irrigation & establishment

Surfacing & access

  • Car parks & hardstanding
  • Roads, footpaths & cycleways
  • Permeable paving & drainage
  • Line marking & signage

Boundaries & features

  • Walls, fencing & gates
  • Railings & balustrades
  • Kerbing & edgings
  • Street furniture & lighting
How we work

From levels to handover —
and beyond.

  1. 01

    Survey & setting-out

We survey the existing ground, take levels and set out the scheme — confirming falls, drainage runs and tie-ins before a spade goes in, so the finished levels work first time.

  2. 02

    Design & specification

We develop a landscape architect’s design through to construction, or specify the package ourselves — materials, build-ups and detailing chosen to meet the brief, the budget and the standards.

  3. 03

    Ground prep & sub-bases

Excavation, formation, sub-bases and edge restraints — the unseen work that decides whether paving and surfacing last. Built to BS 7533, with permeable build-ups where SuDS demands them.

  4. 04

    Hard landscaping & surfacing

Paving, surfacing, kerbing, walls, fencing and street furniture self-delivered by our own teams — sequenced around the trades inside so the external package never holds up handover.

  5. 05

    Soft landscaping & handover

Topsoil, planting, turf and trees installed to BS 4428, then an establishment period to nurse the planting in — followed by a clean handover with maintenance records and as-builts.

Standards & compliance

Built to the codes that
last outside.

The standards we build to

  • BS 7533 — paving & block surfacing
  • BS 8500 — concrete specification
  • BS 4428 & BS 5837 — soft landscaping & trees near construction
  • BS 1722 — fencing systems
  • CIRIA SuDS Manual (C753) & Building Regs Part M
  • CDM 2015 across every package

Backed by AMPM Group

  • 29 years of group trading history, since 1997

FAQs

External-works questions,
answered.

Do you cover both hard and soft landscaping?

Yes. We self-deliver the full external scope — paving, surfacing, kerbing, walls, fencing and street furniture on the hard side, and topsoil, planting, turf and trees on the soft side — as one coordinated package to BS 7533 and BS 4428.

Do you handle external drainage, SuDS and permeable paving?

Yes. We design and build surface-water drainage as part of the external works — including permeable paving and SuDS features detailed to the CIRIA SuDS Manual (C753) — so the surfacing and the drainage are delivered by one team.

Do you maintain planting after install?

Yes. New planting and turf are installed to BS 4428, then carried through a defined establishment period — watering, weeding, replacement of failures and care of trees set out to BS 5837 — so the soft landscaping is established, not just planted, at handover.

Can you work on occupied or live sites?

Yes. Much of our external work is phased around live, occupied buildings — out-of-hours access, segregated routes and protected pedestrian flows under CDM 2015 — so the site stays open while we work.

Do you help with biodiversity net gain and planning landscape conditions?

Yes. We deliver the landscape works that discharge planning conditions and support biodiversity net-gain commitments — native planting, habitat features and the records to evidence them — alongside the landscape architect and ecologist where one is appointed.

Which areas do you cover?

We deliver landscaping and external works across London and the South East, including Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire and Berkshire. Send us the site address and we’ll arrange a survey.
