Commercial heat pump installation and plant-room decarbonisation across London, designed around the London Plan energy hierarchy and Part L 2021, and installed in occupied buildings where the plant room is on the roof, the crane slot is at 6am and the tenants never notice.
London's commercial stock is decarbonising under more pressure than anywhere else in the country: the London Plan's energy hierarchy for major developments, Part L 2021 for refurbishment, the tightening of Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards for let commercial buildings, and corporate net-zero commitments from occupiers who will not renew a lease in a gas-fired building. The engineering answer is usually a heat pump, or a hybrid with the existing boilers retained for peak, but the practical challenge in London is the building: plant on roofs with limited structural capacity, acoustic limits set by residential neighbours, electrical supplies that need a UK Power Networks upgrade before anything else can happen, and works that must be done around occupiers who are paying rent. We design and install air-source and water-source heat pump systems, upgrade the distribution to run at lower flow temperatures, and coordinate the supply, structural and acoustic work that decides whether a London retrofit is buildable.
Often yes, but the building decides. Heat pumps work at lower flow temperatures, so the emitters and distribution have to be checked and usually upgraded, the roof has to carry the plant, the neighbours set the noise limit, and the electrical supply has to have the headroom. We survey all four before recommending a system, and a hybrid with retained boilers for peak load is sometimes the honest answer.
It is the most common hidden constraint in London. We assess the incoming supply and the distribution early, and where an upgrade is needed we handle the UK Power Networks application and the switchgear work as part of the package, because the programme is set by the supply lead time more than by the heat pump.
No. Our work is commercial and multi-residential plant for landlords, occupiers, schools and public estates. Grant-funded domestic installations need MCS certification, which we do not hold, and it is not our market.
All of Greater London, from the City and Westminster to the outer boroughs, with our base in Burgess Hill an hour south. Plant deliveries, crane slots and out-of-hours working are planned around the borough's requirements and the building's occupiers.
