Heat Pumps & Low-Carbon Plant

Commercial Heat Pump Installation in West Sussex

West Sussex estates face the same pressure from every direction: ageing gas plant, tightening Part L targets and tenants asking about carbon. AMPM Building Services designs and installs commercial air-source heat-pump systems from our Burgess Hill base, with the electrical-distribution upgrades and CIBSE-standard commissioning that make them work.

In West Sussex

One team,
county-wide.

West Sussex is our home county. From Burgess Hill we cover the Crawley, Gatwick and Manor Royal commercial belt, the office and industrial stock along the A23 corridor, and the coastal towns from Worthing to Chichester and Bognor Regis. The building mix runs from 1980s business-park units and logistics sheds around Gatwick to residential blocks and public-sector estates in the market towns, and most of it still heats with gas. We handle the full retrofit: heat-loss assessment, plant selection and siting, low-carbon plant replacement, the power upgrades heat pumps usually demand, and commissioning to CIBSE and BSRIA method. For managing agents, landlords and public-sector estates running PSDS-funded programmes, we deliver the mechanical, electrical and builders-work packages as one contract.

What we deliver

Self-delivered,
accountable.

Scope

  • Commercial air-source heat-pump design and installation for offices, industrial units and public buildings
  • Residential-block heat-pump retrofits for landlords and managing agents, including communal plant replacement
  • Low-carbon plant replacement: swapping gas boilers for heat pumps, hybrid arrangements or heat-pump-ready systems
  • Electrical-distribution upgrades: supply assessments, distribution boards, submetering and controls to carry the new load
  • Heat-loss calculation, emitter checks and system re-balancing so the plant is sized to the building, not the brochure
  • Plant siting, acoustic and structural coordination for roof- and ground-mounted units, including builders work
  • Commissioning and handover to CIBSE and BSRIA method, with O&M documentation your FM team can actually use
  • Delivery support for PSDS-funded public-sector decarbonisation programmes across the county

Standards & compliance

  • CIBSE design guidance and BSRIA commissioning method
  • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) for all associated electrical work
  • Part L and Part F of the Building Regulations
  • SFG20-aligned planned maintenance for installed plant
  • CDM 2015 duties on every project

FAQs

Your questions,
answered.

How quickly can you get to sites in West Sussex?

West Sussex is our home county; we are based in Burgess Hill. Crawley, Manor Royal, Gatwick, Horsham and Haywards Heath are all short journeys, and the coastal towns from Worthing to Chichester are comfortably within our day-to-day working area. Our helpdesk runs 24 hours, 365 days on 0330 043 0080, and for installed plant we can pair the installation with SFG20-based planned maintenance and reactive cover.

Can our building's electrical supply handle a heat pump?

Often not without work, and this is where many retrofits stall. Heat pumps shift heating load onto the electrical supply, so we assess the incoming supply and distribution early, and where an upgrade is needed we deliver it ourselves: new boards, submetering, controls and any DNO application support. Because we are an MEPH contractor rather than a heat-pump-only installer, the electrical package is part of the job, not a separate contractor to manage.

Do you work on PSDS-funded public-sector projects?

Yes. We deliver heat-pump and low-carbon plant packages for public-sector estates, including programmes funded through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. We work to the specification and carbon case your programme sets, provide the cost and technical detail your submissions need, and commission to CIBSE and BSRIA method so the performance is evidenced at handover.

Do you install heat pumps in individual homes under MCS?

No. Our work is commercial and residential-block scale: offices, industrial units, public buildings and communal systems serving blocks of flats. We are not an MCS-certified domestic installer and we do not handle Boiler Upgrade Scheme applications. If your requirement is a communal or landlord-side system in a residential block, that sits squarely within our scope.
