Heat Pumps & Low-Carbon Plant

Heat Pumps & Low-Carbon Plant in Surrey

Surrey's office parks, managed blocks and public-sector estates are under pressure to move off gas plant without disrupting occupied buildings. AMPM Building Services delivers commercial air-source heat-pump retrofits and low-carbon plant replacement across Surrey, from design and electrical upgrades through to CIBSE-standard commissioning.

In Surrey

One team,
county-wide.

Surrey's building stock leans heavily on the M25 corridor: multi-tenant offices and business parks around Guildford, Woking and Leatherhead, alongside affluent residential blocks in Weybridge, Esher and Epsom, much of it running gas boilers that are approaching end of life. Replacing that plant with air-source heat pumps is rarely a like-for-like swap; it means heat-loss and flow-temperature assessment, emitter and pipework checks, plant-room and roof-mounted plant design, and often an upgrade to the electrical distribution that feeds it. AMPM handles the full package as one contractor, for estates teams, managing agents, landlords and public-sector clients delivering PSDS-funded decarbonisation programmes, with works planned around occupied buildings and commissioned to CIBSE and BSRIA methodology.

What we deliver

Self-delivered,
accountable.

Scope

  • Commercial air-source heat-pump retrofits for offices, business parks and public-sector estates across Surrey
  • Communal heating plant replacement for residential blocks, working with managing agents and landlords
  • Heat-loss, flow-temperature and emitter assessment to confirm the building can run at heat-pump temperatures
  • Electrical distribution upgrades, new supplies and switchgear to support the additional plant load
  • Plant-room strip-out, builder's work, structural support and acoustic treatment for external units
  • Hybrid and phased plant strategies where a full gas replacement is not viable in one step
  • Support for PSDS-funded programme delivery on public-sector estates
  • CIBSE and BSRIA-methodology commissioning, witnessing and handover documentation, with SFG20-aligned planned maintenance thereafter

Standards & compliance

  • CIBSE design and commissioning guidance
  • BSRIA commissioning methodology (BG series)
  • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) for associated electrical works
  • Building Regulations Part L conservation of fuel and power
  • CDM 2015

FAQs

Your questions,
answered.

Can you install heat pumps in an occupied office or business park on the M25 corridor?

Yes. Most Surrey plant replacement happens in occupied buildings, so we sequence works to keep heating and hot water running, use temporary plant where needed, and programme crane lifts and noisy works around tenants. We agree the phasing with the estates team or managing agent before we start.

Do you handle the electrical upgrades a heat-pump retrofit needs?

Yes, and it is often the deciding factor on programme. Heat pumps add significant electrical load, so we assess the existing supply and distribution, carry out switchgear and distribution upgrades to BS 7671, and liaise with the DNO where a new or upgraded supply is needed. Doing the mechanical and electrical scope as one contract removes an interface risk.

Can you support PSDS-funded decarbonisation projects on public-sector estates in Surrey?

Yes. We deliver the installation scope on Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme programmes: heat-pump plant, distribution upgrades and commissioning evidenced to CIBSE and BSRIA methodology, with the documentation funded programmes require. We work to the programme's design and reporting framework rather than around it.

Where are you based and how do you cover Surrey?

We are based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, with Surrey inside our core London and South East coverage area. Guildford, Woking, Epsom and the M25 corridor towns are all within routine reach for surveys, installation teams and our 24-hour, 365-day reactive maintenance line on 0330 043 0080.
