EV Charging

Commercial EV Charging Installation in West Sussex

West Sussex landlords, employers and managing agents are under pressure to add EV charging to car parks and blocks, and most sites hit the same wall: limited supply capacity and an unclear DNO process. AMPM designs and installs commercial charge-point infrastructure from our Burgess Hill base, handling board upgrades, load management and DNO applications as one package.

In West Sussex

One team,
county-wide.

West Sussex is our home county. From Burgess Hill we cover the Crawley, Gatwick and Manor Royal commercial belt, the coastal towns from Chichester to Worthing, and the mid-Sussex towns around Haywards Heath and East Grinstead. The county's stock is a mix of business parks, logistics and airport-linked units, retail car parks and residential blocks, and each brings its own constraint: available supply capacity, distribution board condition and how many bays need to be live on day one. We supply, install and commission charge points to BS 7671 and the IET Code of Practice, with dynamic load management where the incoming supply is tight and a DNO application where it is not enough.

What we deliver

Self-delivered,
accountable.

Scope

  • Charge-point supply, installation and commissioning for workplace car parks, retail sites and residential blocks
  • Load assessments and distribution board upgrades where existing capacity will not carry the new demand
  • Dynamic load management so multiple charge points share the available supply without tripping the site
  • DNO applications and liaison for new or upgraded connections across the West Sussex network
  • Multi-bay and phased installations for larger car parks around Crawley, Manor Royal and the Gatwick area
  • Charging provision for new-build and refurbishment projects to Part S requirements
  • Civils, ducting and cable routes across car parks as part of the same package
  • Testing, certification and handover documentation for every installation

Standards & compliance

  • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation
  • Approved Document Part S (infrastructure for charging electric vehicles)
  • CDM 2015

FAQs

Your questions,
answered.

How quickly can you get to sites in West Sussex?

West Sussex is our home county. We are based in Burgess Hill, so Crawley, Manor Royal, Gatwick, Haywards Heath and Horsham are all short journeys, and the coastal towns from Worthing to Chichester are comfortably within our day-to-day working area. Site surveys are straightforward to arrange, and our 24-hour line (0330 043 0080) is answered every day of the year.

Our building's electrical supply is already near capacity. Can we still add EV charging?

Usually, yes. Dynamic load management monitors the site's live demand and shares the remaining capacity across the charge points, so you can add charging without a bigger supply. Where the numbers genuinely do not work, we prepare and manage the DNO application for an upgraded connection and carry out any distribution board upgrades needed to support it.

Can you install charging for a residential block or managed car park, not just a workplace?

Yes. Blocks and managed car parks are a core part of the work. We deal with the practical issues these sites raise, including landlord supplies, metering arrangements, cable routes across parking areas and phasing the installation so bays can be added as demand grows. Everything is installed and certified to BS 7671 and the IET Code of Practice.

Do you handle the DNO application, or do we need to arrange that ourselves?

We handle it. Where an installation needs a new or upgraded connection, we prepare the application, supply the load information the DNO asks for and manage the process through to approval. It is part of the same package as the design, installation and commissioning, so you have one point of contact from survey to handover.
